London, UK (4 January 2023): Global media and entertainment firm Alpha1Media on January 4 launched its acclaimed annual list of the top most-anticipated films from around the world which cinema audiences can look forward to watching in 2023, with many great filmmakers and actors returning with films at critical points in their careers.
The 12th edition of the A1Film Top Movies Preview for 2023 highlights 10 essential films, and in total 108 interesting films from Hollywood, China, India and the Middle East, which audiences can look forward to this year.
“At the end of 2021, I had described the A1Film Preview 2022’s theme potentially being the Year of Cinema’s Power Through, but to commemorate the 75th Cannes Film Festival and ahead of the worldwide release of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, I then described it in my exclusive milestone perspective on the future of global cinema on May 23 in prestigious British newspaper, The Independent’ as being the Year of ‘Cinema’s Next Quantum Leap’,’ said Talal Malik, CEO and Writer-Producer at Alpha1Media.
“That proved to be immediately true, with the subsequent release of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ becoming Tom Cruise’s first film in his career to exceed $100 million at the domestic U.S. box office, and exceed $1 billion at the global box office, becoming the No. 1 on the A1Film Top 10 Films 2022 and the A1Film Best Picture Winner 2022, whilst James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ became 2022’s highest grossing film within less than a month of its release and into 2023, also winning the A1Film Best Director Winner 2022 and No. 2 on the A1Film Top 10 Films 2022.”
“2023 therefore can be potentially ‘The Year of Cinematic Inflection’, with many talent, especially A1Film Awards winners, having significant transition points in their careers: with new ventures such as Christopher Nolan’s first film outside his traditional studio at Warner Bros, Martin Scorsese teaming up with his greatest muses Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio for the first time, in India, Shah Rukh Khan and hit director Rajkumar Hirani teaming up for the first time whilst in China, Jackie Chan and Jing Wu also collaborate across generations; with completion arcs, such as Denis Villeneuve completing ‘Dune’ with its sequel, Tom Cruise commencing the end of his ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise, and Sylvester Stallone handing over ‘The Expendables’ franchise; and franchise continuation with quality control for Marvel with Sony’s sequel to their first animated Spider-Man film and the start of the Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
The A1Film Top Movies Preview for 2022 is focused on categories and genres such as ‘The Quintessential’, ‘The Intelligent Blockbuster’, ‘The Franchise – Superhero – Marvel’, ‘The Franchise – Superhero – DC’, ‘The Franchise – Blockbusters’, ‘The Franchise – Sequels Plus’, ‘The Franchise – Children’, ‘The Popular Originals’, ‘The Auteur’, ‘The Director’, ‘The Biopic’, ‘The Play’, ‘The Literary Vehicle’, ‘The Comedy’, ‘India’, ‘China’, ‘South Korea’ and ‘Saudi Arabia’.

In ‘The Intelligent Blockbuster’, the two films chosen are ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Dune: Part Two’.
In ‘The Franchise – Superhero – Marvel’, the two films chosen are ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, followed by ‘Kraven The Hunter’, ‘The Marvels’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
In ‘The Franchise – Superhero – DC’, the films are ‘The Flash’, ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’, ‘Blue Beetle’ and‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’.
In ‘The Franchise – Blockbusters’, the three films chosen are ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’, ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One’ and ‘The Expendables 4’, followed by ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’, ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beast’, ‘Fast X’ and ‘Star Wars: Rogue Squadron’.
In ‘The Franchise – Sequels Plus’, the films are ‘A Haunting in Venice’, ‘Creed III’, ‘Untitled Ghostbusters Afterlife Sequel’, ‘The Meg 2: The Trench’, ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’, ‘Extraction 2’, ‘Gremlins 3’, ‘Evil Dead Rise’, ‘Scream 6’, ‘The Hunger Games: The Battle of Songbirds and Snakes’, ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’, ‘Book Club: The Next Chapter’, ‘Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom’, and ‘Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist’.
