London, UK (9 January 2019): Global media and entertainment firm Alpha1Media on January 9 launched its acclaimed annual list of the top films from around the world which cinema audiences can look forward to watching in 2019.
The eighth edition of the A1Film Preview List for 2019 highlights 10 essential and 75 interesting films from Hollywood, China, Bollywood, the Middle East, Latin America and the Far East that audiences can look forward to this year.
“According to the A1Film Preview List, 2019 is the Year of the Cinematic Universe, for superheroes and auteurs alike,” said Talal Malik, Chairman and CEO of Alpha1Media. “Whilst Marvel Studios’ head Kevin Feige will helm three major releases from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2019, including ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ there will be milestone or shared universe building in forthcoming films by world-class auteurs such as Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Jackie Chan, M. Night Shyamalan and Jordan Peele.’
In ‘The Quintessential’ category, the top 10 films from across the categories chosen, are ‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, ‘Joker’, ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Rambo 5: Last Blood’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘Glass’, ‘The Irishman’, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ and ‘Us’.
In the ‘The Franchise – Superhero’ category, the main films chosen are ‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, ‘Joker’, ‘Captain Marvel’ as well as ‘Shazam!’, ‘Dark Phoenix’ and ‘The New Mutants’.
In ‘The Franchise – Continuation’ category, the films are ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’, ‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ , ‘Fast & Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw’, ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’, ‘Angel Has Fallen’, ‘Kingsman 3’ and ‘Wolf Warrior III’.
In ‘The Franchise – Revival’ category, the films are ‘Untitled Terminator Reboot’, ‘Shaft’, ‘Men in Black: International’, ‘What Men Want’, ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and ‘Hellboy’.
In ‘The Auteur’ category, the main films chosen are ‘The Irishman’, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, ‘Glass’, ‘Us’ and also ‘Triple Frontier’ and ‘The Day Shall Come’.
In ‘The Adaptation’ Category, the main film chosen is ‘Aladdin’ and also ‘The Lion King’, ‘Dumbo’, ‘Alita: Battle Angel’, ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘Rocketman’.
In ‘The Cross Cultural – World Cinema’, the films are ‘The Mystery of Dragon Seal: The Journey to China’, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, ‘The Diary’, ‘Bharat’, ‘Super 30’, ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Jhund’, ‘Badla’, ‘Thackeray’, ‘Kesari’, ‘The Tashkent Files’ and Project X-traction.
In ‘The Awards’ category, the films are ‘Little Women’, ‘The Professor and the Madman’, ‘The Personal History of David Copperfield’, ‘Queen & Slim’, ‘Native Son’ ‘The Goldfinch’ and the ‘Untitled Roger Ailes Project’.
In ‘The True Story’ category, the films are ‘Vice’, ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood’, ‘Ford v. Ferrari’, ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’, ‘Midway’, ‘The Kid’, ‘City of Lies’ and ‘Harriet’.
In ‘The Vehicle – Stars’ category, the films are ‘Serenity’, ‘Ad Astra’, ‘Lucy In The Sky’, ‘Gemini Man’, ‘Backtrace’, ‘Chaos Walking’, ‘6 Underground’, ‘Greyhound’ and ‘The Woman in the Window’.
In ‘The Vehicle – Directors’ category, the films are ‘The Highwaymen’, ‘The King’, ‘The Last Thing He Wanted’, ‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’, ‘The Mule’, ‘Boss Level’ and ‘High Flying Bird’.

Alpha1Media on 6 January 2019 launched its A1Film Awards 2018, celebrating the best of film in 2018, based on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2018.
The A1Film In Memoriam Achievement Award was given to Burt Reynolds, the American Hollywood actor who died on 6 September 2018, and was the only actor ever to have been the top US box office draw for five consecutive years. The A1Film In Memoriam Achievement Award was also given to Sridevi, the Indian Bollywod actress who died on 24 February 2018 and was widely regarded as Bollywood’s first female superstar of Indian cinema. A special A1Film In Memoriam Achievement Award was also given to Stan Lee, the American creator of Spider-man and many of Marvel Studios’ top characters, and Chairman Emeritus of Marvel, who passed away on November 12, 2018.
The A1Film 2018 Best Original Screenplay was given for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ to American screenwriting team, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, which was No. 1 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2018. The A1Film 2018 Best Producer was given to American auteur and producer, Jordan Peele, who co-produced ‘BlackKKlansman’, which was No. 2 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2018. The A1Film 2018 Best Director was given to American director Spike Lee for ‘BlackKKlansman’, which was No. 2 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2018 and won the Grand Prix at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. The A1Film 2018 Best Foreign Picture was given to Mexican auteur, Alfonso Cuarón for ‘Roma’, which was No. 3 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2018.
The A1Film 2018 Best Actor Award was given to American auteur Bradley Cooper for the film, ‘A Star is Born’, a joint No. 6 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2018. The A1Film 2018 Best Actress Award was given to Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio in her acting debut in ‘Roma’, directed by Mexican auteur Alfonso Cuarón, which was No. 3 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2018.
The A1Film 2018 Best Picture was given to American producer and President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, No. 1 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2018, markingthe third consecutive year that Feige, who conceived and had entirely produced the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has won the A1Film Best Picture: firstly, the A1Film 2017 Best Picture for ‘Spider-man: Homecoming’, No 1 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2017, and the first Spider-man film which was produced with counsel from Marvel Studios; and secondly, the A1Film 2016 Best Picture for ‘Captain America: Civil War’, No 1 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016.
Alpha1Media on 5 January 2019 launched its A1Film Top 10 List 2018, which, in order by best film, included ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘BlackKKlansman’, ‘Roma’, ‘Black Panther’, ‘Capernaum’, jointly ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’ / ‘A Star is Born’, ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’, ‘Creed 2’, ‘Aquaman’ and jointly ‘Crazy Rich Asians’/ ‘First Man’.
