Alpha1Media launches A1Film Preview List 2022

London, UK (10 January 2022): Global media and entertainment firm Alpha1Media on January 10 launched its acclaimed annual list of the top most-anticipated films from around the world which cinema audiences can look forward to watching in 2022, as the global cinema industry continues its recovery from the global pandemic and its variants.

The 11th edition of the A1Film Top Movies Preview for 2022 highlights 10+ essential films, and in total 116 interesting films from Hollywood, China, India, the Middle East, as well as genres focused on women, which audiences can look forward to this year, as greater films are released in the cinema since 2019.

“With 2021 clearly the Year of the Resilience of Cinema, then this A1Film Top Movie Preview’s theme for 2022 can potentially be of Cinema’s Power Through,” said Talal Malik, CEO of Alpha1Media.

“The volume of blockbusters, and films in general, across a variety of genres is bigger than it has ever been, as the global cinema industry seeks to essentially power through the year: James Cameron returns with ‘Avatar 2’, his sequel to then highest-grossing film in history in 2009, which was, of course, released after the global financial crisis to be market analogous to the global pandemic: Marvel, with Sony’s Spider-Verse, has five blockbusters, with the likes of ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 1’ and ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’; DC has five blockbusters, with the likes of DC’s ‘The Batman’ and ‘The Flash’; Tom Cruise has two blockbusters with ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Mission: Impossible 7’; Auteurs are back with the likes Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, Damian Chazelle’s ‘Babylon’, Jordan’s Peele’s ‘Nope’ and George Miller’s ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’, China’s blockbusters with Jing-Wu’s ‘Water Gate Bridge’ and icon Jackie Chan multiple vehicles; India enters potential blockbuster territory with ‘Brahmastra’  with icon Amitabh Bachchan also having multiple vehicles; and Saudi Arabia enters the global film production industry with films intended for global release.”

The A1Film Top Movies Preview for 2022 is focused on categories and genres such as ‘The Quintessential’, ‘The Franchise – Superhero – Marvel’, ‘The Franchise – Superhero – DC’, ‘The Franchise – Trilogy & Beyond’, ‘The Franchise – Sequels’, ‘The Franchise – Remakes’, ‘The Auteur’, ‘The Auteur’, ‘Star Vehicles’, ‘The Biopic’, ‘The Literary Vehicle’, ‘The Women’, ‘China’, ‘India’ and ‘The Middle East’.

In ‘The Franchise – Superhero – Marvel’ category, the two films chosen are ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 1’ or and ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, followed by ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and ‘Morbius’.

In ‘The Franchise – Superhero – DC’ category, the two films chosen are ‘The Batman’ or and ‘The Flash’, followed by ‘Black Adam’, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ and ‘Batgirl’.

In ‘The Franchise – Trilogy and Beyond’ category, the two films chosen are ‘Mission: Impossible 7’, ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, ‘Creed III’ and ‘Legally Blonde 3’.

In ‘The Franchise – Sequels’ category, the two films chosen ‘Avatar 2’ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, followed by ‘The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection’, ‘Extraction 2’, ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’, ‘Knives Out 2’, ‘Death on the Nile’,‘Disenchanted’,‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2’ and ‘Enola Holmes 2’.

In ‘The Franchise – Remakes’ category, the films chosen ‘Three Men and a Baby’, ‘Memory’ and ‘The Wild Bunch’.

In ‘The Auteur’ category, the three films chosen are ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, ‘Babylon’, ‘Nope’ and ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’ followed by ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’, ‘Bardo’, ‘Untitled David O. Russell’, ‘Asteroid City’, ‘Next Goals Wins’, ‘Everything, Everywhere All at Once’, ‘Spirited’, ‘Havoc’, ‘Disappointment Blvd.’, ‘White Noise’, ‘The Interpreter’, ‘Monkey Man’ and ‘The Son’.

In ‘Star Vehicles’ category, the film chosen is ‘Samaritan’, followed by ‘Uncharted’, ‘Bullet Train’, ‘Ambulance’, ‘The Division’, ‘Deep Water’, ‘The Adam Project’, ‘Untitled Kenya Barris / Jonah Hill Comedy Project’, ‘Operation Freedom: Ruse de guerre’, ‘Argylle’, ‘The Gray Man’, ‘Kung Fury 2’, ‘Sniff’, ‘Wash Me in the River’,‘Strays’, ‘Ticket to Paradise’, ‘65’ and ‘The Man from Toronto’.

In ‘The Biopic’ category, the films chosen are ‘Thirteen Lives’, ‘Sound of Freedom’, ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’,‘Untitled Elvis Presley Project’, ‘The Unbelievable Weight of Massive Talent’, ‘The Fabelmans’, ‘Untitled Bee Gees Biopic’, ‘Boston Strangler’, ‘The Woman King’, ‘Blonde’ and ‘TAR’.

In ‘The Literary Vehicle’ category, the films chosen are ‘The Northman’, ‘The King’s Daughter’, ‘Pinocchio’, ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’, ‘Persuasion’ and ‘Matilda’.

In ‘The Women’ category, the films chosen are ‘The Lost City’,‘The 355’, ‘Moonfall’, ‘Poor Things’, ‘Don’t Worry Darling’, ‘Marry Me’, ‘She Said’, ‘Red, White and Water’ and ‘The Wonder’.

In ‘China’ category, the films chosen is ‘Water Gate Bridge’, followed by ‘The Monkey King: The Legend Begins’,‘Snafu’, ‘The Diary’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Hong Kong’.

In ‘India’ category, the film chosen is ‘Brahmastra’, followed by ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, ‘KGF Chapter 2’, ‘Vikram Vedha’, ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’, ‘Wisdom for Heroes’, ‘Uunchai’, ‘Ganapath’, ‘Heropanti 2’, ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Shamshera’, ‘Mayday’, ‘Maidaan’ and‘The Intern’.

In ‘The Middle East’ category, the films chosen are ‘Desert Warrior’, ‘Rupture’, ‘Cello’, ‘Champions’, ‘Perfect Strangers’ and ‘A Hero’.

With the A1Film Best Foreign Picture Award 2021 given to ‘Chehre’ from India, starring iconic actor Amitabh Bachchanwhich was recognised as No. 8 on the A1Film Top 10 Best Movies 2021, Amitabh Bachchan celebrated the A1Film Top 10 List himself on Twitter as his famous T 4144 Tweet to 46.8 million followers.
