The Amazing Spider-man – Reboot for the webslinger directed by Marc Webb (indeed), and starring Andrew Garfield from The Social Network about a certain Web-site, and also marks the Hollywood debut of Indian actor Irrfan Khan from Slumdog Millionaire. (4 July)

The Dark Knight Rises – Bringing a masterpiece trilogy to an end and aiming to bettering a world-class film, The Dark Knight Rises may, just may, be better than its predecessor – and go out with a bang with Bane. (20 July)

The Expendables 2 – Stallone. Schwarzenegger. Willis. The Action Kings of the past three decades (and Planet Hollywood) are back with the ultimate testosterone film.  (17 August)

47 Ronin: Keanu Reeves returns to the action genre for the first time since The Matrix trilogy in this remake about Samurai in China. (21 November)

UBL (International Untitled Thriller) – Kathryn Bigelow’s first film since winning the Oscar for ‘The Hurt Locker’ focuses on the capture of Usama bin Laden. (19 December )

The Life of Pi – Former Spider-man Tobey Maguire stars with Indian actor Irrfan Khan, a villain from the websligning reboot in Taiwanese director Ang Lee’s adaptation of the best-selling novel. (21 December)

The Great Gatsby – - Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby in Baz Luhrmann’s vision, a must-watch for the Hollywood debut of India’s greatest movie star, Amitabh Bachchan as Meyer Wolfsheim. (25 December)

The Man with the Iron Fists – Russell Crowe appears in a film set in feudal China about a village taking up arms to protect themselves. (Unknown 2012)


Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance– Nicolas Cage returns as the Marvel superhero in a film partially financed by Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. (14 February)

Prometheus – Ridley Scott returns to the ‘Alien’ franchise in this prequel named after the spaceship in the original. (1 June)

The Bourne Legacy – Jeremy Renner, hot from Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and The Avengers, takes over from Matt Damon. (17 August)

Total Recall – Colin Farrell stars in this remake of the Schwarzenegger classic, set in an age of Euromerica and New Shanghai. (22 August)

Men in Black III – It has been a decade since Will Smith was in the black suit. (25 May)


Bullet to the Head – Sylvester Stallone faces off against new Conan Jason Mamoa in Walter Hill’s new cop-meets-hitman flick. (13 April)
