London, UK (25 February 2017):Global diversified media firm Alpha1Media International on February 25 launched its inaugural A1Film Awards for 2016, highlighting the achievements of the global cinema industry over the year.
The A1Film Awards for 2016 highlights films, writers, producers, actors and directors, from Hollywood, Bollywood, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and the Far East which are reflective of the best of global popular cinema in 2016, Alpha1Media said.
‘The A1Film Awards List continues to be the only list of its kind, focusing on the achievements of our industry colleagues in popular cinema over 2016,’ said Ms. Felce, Alpha1Media’s official spokesperson.
Alpha1Media on 23 February launched its A1Film Top 10 List 2016, celebrating the Top 10 Films of 2016. From its A1Film Top 10 List 2016, Alpha1Media awards the following colleagues in the global film industry with the inaugural A1Film Awards 2016, recognising their achievements this year.
The A1Film In Memoriam Achievement Award is given to ‘The Greatest of All Time’, American boxer, actor and humanitarian Muhammad Ali, who passed away on 3 June 2016. Ali is inspirational as the only three-time lineal heavyweight boxing champion in history, for portraying himself in a film of his life in ‘The Greatest’, for an actor, Will Smith, to be nominated for an Oscar for portraying him in a film of his life, ‘Ali’, and for being the inspiration behind the character Apollo Creed, portrayed by American actor, Carl Weathers, in ‘Rocky’, Oscar-winning film franchise created by American auteur Sylvester Stallone.
The A1Film 2016 Best Male Newcomer is given to British actor Tom Holland for his first appearance as Spider-man in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, which was No. 1 on the A1Film Top 10 List 2016. Tom Holland is the third actor to portray Spider-man in major feature films, following American actor Tobey Maguire and British-American actor Andrew Garfield. Holland will once again portray Spider-man in the film, ‘Spider-man: Homecoming’, to be released in 2017, which will be produced for the first time with counsel from Marvel Studios. Alpha1Media were also VIP guests at the World Premiere of The Amazing Spider-man 2, at No 5 on the A1 Film Top Ten List 2014, at the Odeon, Leicester Square, London, UK on April 10, having been VIP guests at the Gala European and UK Premiere of ‘The Amazing Spider-man’, in London on 18 June 2012 (the 50th anniversary of the creation of Spider-man in 1962). Alpha1Media met with Stan Lee, the creator of Spider-man, in London at the London Film and Comic Con on July 11 and July 12, 2014, and also are the final guest for signing by at his last ever-signing appearance in Europe on July 13, 2014.
The A1Film 2016 Best Female Newcomer is given to Israeli actor Gal Gadot for her first appearance as Wonder Woman in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, which was No. 9 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016. Gadot will once again be ‘Wonder Woman’ in her own titled film to be released in 2017. Alpha1Media were VIP guests at the Gala European and UK Premiere of ‘Man of Steel’, at No. 2 in the A1Film List 2013, at Odeon Leicester Square, London, UK on 12 June 2013 (the 75th anniversary of the creation of Superman in 1938), meeting with actor Henry Cavill and director Zack Snyder.
The A1Film 2016 Best Original Screenplay is given for ‘La La Land’ to American auteur, Damien Chazelle, who wrote and directed the film, which is No. 2 on the No. 9 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016, with his previous film as an auteur being the critically-acclaimed, ‘Whiplash’.
The A1Film 2016 Best Producer is given to American producer and President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, for ‘Captain America: Civil War’, No 1 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016, who also has a second Marvel film in the Top 10 with ‘‘Deadpool’’ at No. 7.
The A1Film 2016 Best Director is given to Canadian auteur, Denis Villeneuve for ‘Arrival’, No. 3 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016. Villeneuve has also directed the critically-acclaimed ‘Sicario’ and ‘Prisoners’.
The A1Film 2016 Best Foreign Picture is given to Indian producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra for the film, ‘Wazir’, starring Indian legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan, No. 7 in the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016. Chopra also produced the film ‘3 Idiots’ in 2012, which was critically-acclaimed and was the highest-grossing Bollywood film in history.
The A1Film 2015 Best Actor Award is given to American actor Viggo Mortensen for his lead role in the film, ‘Captain Fantastic’, No. 6 in the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016. ‘Captain Fantastic’ focuses on homeschooling in the US, with Mortensen playing a widower in the film. He has had supporting roles in films such as ‘Carlito’s Way’ and ‘Daylight’.
The A1Film 2016 Best Actress Award is given to American actress Amy Adams leading role in ‘Arrival’, No 3 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016. Five-times Oscar nominated Adams also appears as Lois Lane in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, No 9 on the A1Film Top 10 List for 2016.

Alpha1Media on 23 February 2017 published the A1Film Top 10 List 2016, which, in order by best film, includes, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘La La Land’, ‘Arrival’, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, ‘I, Daniel Blake’, ‘Captain Fantastic’, ‘Deadpool’ , ‘Wazir’, ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘Suicide Squad’.
Alpha1Media will also launch its acclaimed annual list of the top films from around the world which cinema audiences were looking forward to in 2017.
