31 January 2016: Global diversified media firm Alpha1Media International on January 31 launched its inaugural A1Film Awards for 2015, highlighting the achievements of the global cinema industry over the year.

The A1Film Awards for 2015 highlights films, writers, producers, actors and directors, from Hollywood, Bollywood, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and the Far East which are reflective of the best of global popular cinema in 2015, Alpha1Media™ said.

‘The A1Film Awards List continues to be the only list of its kind, focusing on the achievements of our industry colleagues in popular cinema over 2015,’ said Ms. Felce, Alpha1Media’s official spokesperson.

Alpha1Media™ on 31 January 2016 launched its A1Film List 2015, celebrating the Top 10 Films of 2014. From its A1Film List 2015, Alpha1Media™ awards the following colleagues in the global film industry with the inaugural A1Film Awards 2015, recognising their achievements this year.

The A1Film In Memoriam Achievement Award is given to Egyptian actor Omar Sharif, who passed away on 10 July 2015. Though he began his career in Egypt, Sharif gained global superstardom in his roles in the 1960s as Sherif Ali in David Lean’s ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, for which he was nominated for an Oscar, and as the title role in David Lean’s ‘Doctor Zhivago’, both of which he won Golden Globes for. He passed nearly a half year later after his former wife, Egyptian actress Faten Hamama passed away, and a year a half after his friend and co-star, Peter O’Toole passed away, the recipient of the A1Film In Memoriam Achievement Award 2013.

The A1Film 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award is given to American actor Harrison Ford, who featured as the lead in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens ’, recognised as number 10 in the A1Film List 2015 and as of date, is the highest-grossing actor in US cinema box office history. He has starred as the lead hero in many franchises including Han Solo in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, including in 2015’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens ’, recognised as number 10 in the A1Film List 2015, Indiana Jones in the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise and Jack Ryan in Tom Clancy’s franchise, as well as supporting roles in franchises such as ‘The Expendables 3’.

The A1Film 2015 Best Newcomer is given to American actor Michael B. Jordan for his lead titular role in ‘Creed’, No. 1 on the A1Film List 2015. In ‘Creed’ Jordan portrays Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed, the main rival and friend of Rocky in the film franchise created by American auteur, Sylvester Stallone, four decades ago. Jordan’s first major film role was in ‘Chronicle’ in 2012, followed by ‘Fruitvale Station’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ before he landed the role of Adonis Creed. Alpha1Media met Jordan at the Dubai Film International Film Festival in December 2013.

The A1Film 2015 Best Original Screenplay is given for ‘Creed’ to American auteur, Ryan Coogler, who wrote and directed the acclaimed ‘Fruitvale Station’ and his co-writer, Aaron Covington, for persuading Sylvester Stallone, the creator of the character Rocky, to greenlight and also star in a spin-off film of his literary and cinematic creation.

The A1Film 2015 Best Producer is given for ‘Creed’ to British producer, Kevin King-Templeton, who has produced films with Sylvester Stallone for the past two decades, and executed produced ‘Creed’, with two cameo appearances in the film as well as helping for the film to be shot partially in the United Kingdom.

The A1Film 2015 Best Director is given to Australian director, George Miller, for ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, number 2 in the A1Film List 2015. Miller is largely known as the creator of the Mad Max franchise, originally starring and launching into super-stardom American actor Mel Gibson, and now portrayed by British actor Tom Hardy. In 2007, Miller signed with Warner Bros to direct a Justice League film, featuring the first cinematic representation of Superman and Batman together, but this was cancelled. Superman and Batman, who have never appeared on film together, will face off in 2016’s ‘Batman Vs. Superman’, the director of whom, Zack Snyder, and Superman actor, Henry Cavill, Alpha1Media met at the Gala European and UK Premiere of ‘Man of Steel’, at the Odeon Leicester Square, London, UK on 12 June 2013.

The A1Film 2016 Best Non-English Picture is given to Iranian auteur Majid Majidi for the film, ‘Muhammad: Messenger of God’. Released with controversy in 2015, the film is the first cinematic portrayal of Islam’s Prophet since ‘The Message’ in 1976, directed by the late Syrian-American director and producer Moustapha Akkad. The soundtrack to the film, the first of a purported trilogy, is by the Indian songwriter and singer, AR Rahman, who won two Oscars for his work on ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

The A1Film 2015 Best Actor Award is given to American actor Sylvester Stallone for his lead role in the Ryan Coogler-directed film, ‘Creed’, No. 1 on the A1Film List 2015. Alpha1Media™ officially celebrates that for ‘Creed’, No. 1 in the A1Film List of 2015, Sylvester Stallone has been nominated for the Academy Award (‘Oscar’) for Best Supporting Actor for his role and has won the Golden Globe for the same. Sylvester Stallone has portrayed ‘Rocky’, his own literary creation, seven times over four decades. His historic Oscar nomination holds a number of records: Sylvester Stallone holds the record for the longest time between Oscar nominations and also the record for longest time between nominations for portrayals of the same character. Alpha1Media™ met with Sylvester Stallone, world-famous iconic writer, actor, director and producer on 1 August 2014, during his launch for ‘The Expendables 3’, No. 4 on the A1 Film Top Ten List 2014, and were VIP front row guests at two events with the superstar in the UK, firstly on at the Palladium in London 11 January 2014 and secondly celebrating the A1Film Lifetime Achievement Award on 1 August 2014.

The A1Film 2015 Best Actress Award is given to South African and American actress Charlize Theron for her co-leading role as Imperator Furiosa in ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, No. 2 on the A1Film List 2015.  Theron, who won a Best Actress Oscar for her role in ‘Monster’, was a surprise revelation in the film, co-starring opposite actor Tom Hardy.

The A1Film 2015 Best Picture is given to is given to Ryan Coogler, Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan and Kevin King-Templeton for ‘Creed’, No. 1 on the A1Film List 2015. ‘Creed’ wins Best Original Screenplay, Best Newcomer, Best Producer, Best Actor and Best Picture at the A1Film List 2015.
